Keeping your students interested
I find that by sharing my experiences within my career allows the students to see what is possible and achievable in their own careers.
DeShaun,
Good ideas. The sharing of your own experiences is a great way to illustrate the value and application of the content you are offering. This helps to make the information real for the students.

Sharing professional experiences both good and bad. Let them know some of your mistakes and how you dont want them to make the same. Use the lab throughout the lecture to reinforce content. Break the lectures up in small chunks. Allow them to repair some of the training aids.
Robbie,
Where do you get your information and resources to do this?

sharing life experiences, and new medical information about procedures and new development
Marlene,
Students love hearing stories from the field as shared by their instructors as you know. So the more stories and examples you can share with them in relation to the topic being covered the more content retention there is going to be.

I have almost forty years of different experiences in nursing, and I find that the students are interested in my stories that I share with them. They especially enjoy the changes in patient care practices.
Robert,
Students like to hear career stories from their instructors as you know. These stories help to make the content real to them and motivates them as they can see how they can be successful in their chosen field if they will put forth the effort.
