Motivation

You are looked to as the expert, so your body language and teaching techniques motivate your students.

Tara,
This is such a good point to reinforce. Prompt feedback from the instructor helps students to see that they are valued and what the status is of their work. This shows the instructor respects them and wants to provide support to them as needed.

I do not teach on line, but I take classes on line and when a professor replies quickly I feel they are vested. ( My work hinges on a fast response). When they take forever to reply then obviously they are not, because they put me behind schedule for my class work. Grading quickly is a good sign as well. Giving that fast feed back so the student feels that you are urgent about their work an how they progress.

Rima,
Can you give some examples of how this applies. Thanks.

body language are highly important

Hi Samone, I agree with you but what if you are teaching online classes? Although I have a web cam and for the most part students can see me, I find this very distracting and would rather them focus on the program I am trying to teach them. I keep my cam on for the first few minutes of class so they can see that I am a real person then I switch to a still photo. I wish I could walk about and demonstrate body language to add to my teaching techniques.
