I generally find these students a challenge so I get to be creative and try to find what will work to unlock their resistance or apathy to learning. When I find something I get really excited because it gets the students engaged and lets me use my creativity. A win win situation for everyone.

I remind my student why they wanted to continue their education and of what their goals are in life. I talk with them and adjust my instructional style to get them back in the game. It's not that hard to adjust a lesson plan to excite a student and have them more active with class/lab.
