reinforcement

daily reinforcement of knowledge aids in retention, enabling the student to understand and apply the newly aquired knowledge

Hi Marianna:

I also use the same techniques as you. I also use positive reinforcement techniques by also getting the class as a whole involved when debriefing them at the end of the class.
Like you, I also like to tie in what was covered the previous day before starting the day.

Thank you for sharing!

Hi Shirley,
If instructors can help students to capture the essence of "be all you can be" then the students will have greater opportunities to shape their careers and achieve the success they desire.
Gary

I agree with you, plus developing attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding which are valued by society. Promoting the idea of 'be all you can be' and the importance of having goals and ambitions. This encourage positive attitudes to teamwork, and to the value of lifelong learning

Hi Marianna,
Well said. You have a created a real connection with your students through your approach. This helps to keep them engaged throughout the course.
Gary

I agree with that. I believe the more the students are "in-tune" with what's going on, the more likely they are to stay in class, as well enjoy it and learn from it. I also show them how this applies to their future careers. This is always an interesting topic for students, as they can see themselves using the techniques I show in "the real world". This keeps them focused and interested.

I find that the best way to reinforce is to end the class by reviewing what we did, and then starting the next class by linking the material in the previous class to the new material we will cover in the current class. This ongoing reinforcement and linking of material helps place what they are learning in context, aids reinforcement, and helps students maintain the "big picture."
