Instructor Enthusiasm
I can tell when I'm enthusiastic about a subject so are my students so I believe 100% that instuctors must be enthusiastic about every aspect of what they are teaching to keep the students enterested
Hi Warren,
Good way of putting how you need to deliver instruction--like you are doing it for the first time. This is true the lecture/activity needs to be fresh and exciting for the students if you are going to catch and hold their attention.

Teaching is like acting, you must present the material as if you are doing it for the first time.
Students pick up on unique ways of presenting material. They remember the instructor who may have presented the material in a non-traditional way.
We are competeting with media that is energetic. Over the years that I have taught I have observed an increased need to conduct an "entertaining" class. I have a good time with the students and find that I look forward to the interaction. Pat J
Hi William,
I like your point about how boredom can be catching as well. If we aren't excited about the material for sure the students won't be and they will reflect that through their efforts or lack there of.
Gary
Instructor enthusiasm is definitely contagious so it is important to try to focus on points of interest within the topic that drive your enthusiasm so you will have the momentum to make it through the delivery of the portion of the material that may not be as interesting, and remembering at the same time that boredom with the material is equally contagious.
Well...students can feed off the enthusiasm of the instructor. Id an instructor is sincere and committed to providing a proactive, caring, and inclusive learning climate, students can maximize their learning potential.
I fully agree. We must play cheerleaders sometimes.
