Retention
It is hard sometimes to motivate your students depending on your subject area. For instance, I teach a document processing class and it's hard to keep my students motivated because it's basically a typing class with little instruction. These types of classes are hard to motivate. Any ideas would be appreciated!!!
James,
I think this is a great idea. I know it is hard for me to keep up with my field and by having the students bring in their latest findings about some new technology it will help me to stay current. I am going to give this a try. Thanks for the suggestion.

Dr. Meers,
I teach with Mrs Bergum at Miller-Motte and I teach document processing in the evening from 5:30pm -7:50 eastern standard time on Mondays and Wednesday and one of the things I do is have a research piece that I have added to the class called Tech Bytes where the students are doing reseach on some new technology breakthrough and they submit these to me and my students love it
Traci,
Is there anyway to introduce contests or games? My students really respond to games and contests. Some are directly related to the content and at other times they are a bit silly but they get the students engaged at the beginning and end of class which helps a lot when dealing with the more dry aspects of the content or skill. Candy kisses given out for various things like posture, smiles, etc. help to keep the class lite but focused. Not sure if this will work in your setting but I would give it a try.
