The Human Factor

This carries over into every asspect of the educational process. We continue the Human Factor in the Student Services office by treating every student with care and being fair to his or her problem.

Karen,
Your last sentence is a very important point for all instructors to remember. We need to listen carefully and then speak. By doing so we will reduce the times we offend or hurt the feelings of our students.
Gary

Gary Meers, Ed.D.

When the entire team is onboard with making customer service (or the Human Factor) a priority, it helps students feel a sense of belonging and importance. Sometimes the smallest words can upset someone. Even when you think you're being positive, it isn't always interpreted that way. That's why it's important to gauge a student's mood or situation before speaking or commenting.
