Strategiesfor Instructors
Lots of ideas come from the interner to keep students motivated, especially adult learners. The u tube videos of teachers teaching from berkeley , stanford and many other top ranking colleges are helpful to see how passionate a teacher can be to engage students.
I give personal experiences and show the students projects that I have been involved in over the years. I just finished a power point presentation of components, then show "the big picture" of what my small component belongs too.
I try to be as interactive as possible.
I agree with Michelle in seeing passionate instructors making a difference. Personally when I see the lost look in my students expressions I will make a funny comment to bring them back, so to speak. It breaks the frustration and seems to relax the students before we continue the class.
