Retention is a significant measurement regarding classroom success

setting the rules and regulations at the beginning of the classroom that will definately help mutual benefit for both parties, instructor as well as student.

enroll , educate and placement is the key role in professional secondary schools. if the retention of student is low that means somewhere in the teaching process as an educator I am not navigating the adult learner in the right pathway. So retention is very important

Aimee,
Yes, we must. We are the leader of the class and if we don't set the tone for maximum learning then there are going to be behavior issues throughout the course.

It is essential that the instructor sets the stage for rules and guidelines. If not how can you ever expect the students to comply.

Alicia,
Retention is an ongoing challenge for instructors because life has a way of pulling our students out of the classroom. The more we can get to know them and provide them support the more we will be able to influence their decision to stay in school when life becomes difficult. We will lose some but we will keep even more.

Retention is one of the most challenging part of teaching. The measures around success can be uncontrollable at times if the issues a student is primarily external to the classroom (such as transportation or financial difficulties). This is why your role as an instructor in the classroom to have a good rapport, fairness, and keeping the learning environment stimulating is important. Because if external factors begin to interfere with the possible retention of a student just maybe your effect in the classroom will outweigh and the student remains engaged.

Cem,
This is the way to manage student behavior and get the class off to a good start. If you don't do this then the students will not know what the expectations are.
