TRY TRY AGAIN

TO ERROR IS HUMAN,THAT IS WHAT CONTRIBUTES TO SELF DOUBT.SO IF AT FIRST WE DONT SUCCEED,THEN TRY TRY AGAIN.A LIFE SPENT MAKING MISTAKES IS MORE HONORABLE THAN ONE SPENT DOING NOTHING.

Justin, what techniques do you use to get your students to "tackle problems" outside their comfort zones? Thanks for anything you can share.

James Jackson

I encourage my students to tackle problems beyond their skill level because once they join the workforce they will not have the luxury of an instructor right there with them to bail them out when the need arises.

Kathy, well stated. Constructive reinforcement can be much more powerful than constructive critisim.

I agree also I Always renforce positive feed back if they here neagative feed back then they will be negative. Keep it up beat and positive choose your additude all the time.

Alice, great idea and one I have seen used many times. The more you know the more you grow so repeating a class is not a bad thing. Students who repeat a course can better master the materials versus students who only get the materials once.

Hello Bruce,
I agree. We are in education which means this is where a student should feel save in failing on the path to success.

When my students don't succeed the first time with a course and I inform them that they need to take the class again, I explain that I think it is a good thing. This gives them more oppotunity to absorb the materials and process the information and in the long run they will be much better off having repeated.
