i have d=some of the same issues at the school i am at . the one piece of advise that i can give you is to put it on the student not on yourself if they dont care enough to be there or be on time you can only do so much to change that. pull them aside and tlak to them and let them know how you feel and leave it on there shoulder to way . if they care they will make the change.

Hi Dennis,
I understand working with the student in extenuating circumstances. It is a good thing you make it known to your students up front the importance of attendance and punctuality.

In my class, we cover soo much materil each day it is critical that the students are on time each day.I stress this on the first day of class and inform the class that we will not have time to go over the same materil twice. However if a student does miss class due to a emergency,or is late I will stay for some one on one assistance after class as long as I am able to verify the situation was a emergency.

Hi Dennis,
Absolutely! We have to set uour students up so that they will be successful in the work force.

I will have to agree and also that tardiness will not be accepted in the work force and students should have to face consequences for being tardy so they will be prepared

Hi Cindy,
I concur! Your students should know that tardiness will not be favorable in the workplace. They should begin to get into good habits about being punctual.

With adult students, it is inevitable that you will have late students due to their many responsibilities at home and possibly work. I reemphasize with the students that from the employer standpoint, tardiness is not tolerated. In addition, with being late they are missing crucial information to suceed in class.

Hi Cyndi,
Give a quiz promptly at 8:00, and those who are not there are not allowed to take the quiz and issue them a zero.
