listening to the students an what they have to say shows the student that you care about what they are saying

Hi Anthony,
I agree! We need to listen to the student fully without any type of interruptions.

Anthony, I totally agree with what you are saying because if we don't listen we won't know what they are saying, also there is alot of people who cut you short becacue they think they know what you are going to say. So if we take a little more time to listen then we could help the student.

Hi Anthony,
Over my 24 years, I have certainly heard some horror students from my students about their life. Most of our students want and need a second solid chance so that they can be successful in life.

I agree, we have some students that have lived a hard life and are very untrusting of people. They may believe that we are extremely different, and then may realize that the difference may not be that big. Then the trusting process starts. That can change their life.

When we, as instructors, listen to students, they are, many times, developing a sense of worth. They see there are people who care about them and their vocational goals. In some instances they may perceive the instructor who listens as the only person in their life at that time who cares. I have on many occasions learned some of the difficulties they were experiencing in their life and have been able to advise them in a direction that helped that given situation. I have also learned to keep the lines of communication open after the fact because while in school, students learn who they can trust very quickly.

Hi Stan,
Students feel a sense of importance when they are listened to.

Hi Feather,
Students have to learn how to respect each others opinion. Listening to others is paramount.

I agree also. I do feel, however, that fostering a classroom environment where the classmates listen to each other is important as well. This is definitely a skill they will benefit from in their chosen field and will help build a sense of community and support in the classroom.

I agree. Partnering with students by listening to them is essential to a successful classroom relationship and learning experience.

Hi Anthony,
I concur! Listening is key! Our students need to feel as though they are important because in essence they are extremely important.
