As a career changer myself, I have found success in teaching adult learner by acknowledging their skills in other areas. I want them to know that all though they are new to this area of study, their instructor respects their current skills.

Adult learners can be very challenging due to their maturity level, experience, and knowledge, but if you are an effective instructor those challenging students will still give you the utmost respect as their instructor.

Adult customers can definitely be a challenge at times due to the varying backgrounds and situations. That is why it is imperative that each instructor try their best to individualize each lesson to effectively communicate with their students. This can be obtained by ensuring student to teacher ratios are appropriate for the subject and it is also helpful for the instructor to allow an appropriate amount of leeway and understanding.
