What do you think is the best way to connect with new students? I believe in learning their name as soon as possible. This shows that I care about them and their success.
Hi Tanya,
Building a rapport with students is definitely a plus. Once you get to know your students, you really know how to better prepare for them in order to reach their learning needs.

To make a connection with a new student, I think it also helps to briefly inquire about his/her background and prior experiences that relate to my course or our program. This gives me a good starting point, so I can taylor my teaching towards this student's baseline knowlege. The student, in turn, will appreciate the interest that I express in his persona, which will establish a connection and open a positive line of communication between us.
Hi John,
Learning their names, smiling, having small talks with them, greeting them, and giving them what they need knowledge wise, and leading by example are ways to connect with the students.
