Taking what is offered . . .
Sometimes the students do not realize that what they need to succeed, in class or life, is right in front of them. The instructors do a good job of placing the info in front of the student and are wanting for them to absorb it.
Hi Angela,
Some students are afraid to be successful because then they have to live up to a certain standard. Some will even quit before they become successful. This is sad, but true.

I find that most often students are afraid to be successful.
Hi Kristian,
Students need to know that they are vested. I let my students know that education is such a worthy investment. Most students are excited about their educational investment.

A very true statement. In these cases enabling objectives along with a look at their educational investment can help motivate.
Hi Gail,
I concur based on the type of adult learners we deal with. A lot of adult learners only know how to survive, and they really are not use to being successful. I have seen that success even scares some adult learners. They are really comfortable where they are.

I have also found that many times the adult learner does not know how to be successful. Success is not "normal" for them and failure is sometimes more comfortable. Instructors need to assist students in the learning experience by helping students identify what is means to be successful and how to go about becoming successful.
Hi Andrew,
Our students need guidance, and we have to show them and give them direction to help them along the way. Some of our students really do not know how to be successful.
