Guest Speakers
I am an instructor at a Technical Trade School.
When we bring local employers in to talk to our students, they are focusing on the importance of soft skills. It is important the students hear this from future employers and not just from their instructors.
I love bringing in guest speakers to talk with students. Often students become accustomed to certain teachers and almost tune out some of the information that they're given. When that same information is given out by a prominent guest speaker, it often elicits a different response, for whatever reason. Perhaps repetition from multiple sources is the cause, or perhaps it's just the fact that it's coming from someone other than their regular instructor.
