Lifetime Learner
I belive that we never stop learning. I have been teaching for three years and I am still in a continual learning pprocess to keep up with the advances occuring daily in my industry. Even my students have ideas and information to share about our industry that I may not be awrare of. They can provide a wide range of information that I can share with my next class.
Kathleen,
It is amazing what we learn from our students and what other students can learn from experiences shared! Good job!
Shelly Crider
I completely agree and this has been my experience in the classroom. Opening the discussion for students to share their experiences has constantly amazed me. They often share viewpoints or experiences that open my eyes to innovative ideas. We should never stop learning as educators and as individuals.
David,
I like how you say "understanding and appreciation". We do appreciation where we have come from and where we are going!
Shelly Crider
With the unprecedented access to information, I've found that students today enter the classroom more knowledgeable than those just a few years ago. For this reason, as a technology-based instructor it is imperative that I stay a few steps ahead.
Another benefit to Lifetime Learning is an enhanced perspective of the field. This understanding and appreciation offers a sense of future developmental paths - subsequently, this provides additional context when assigning projects and assignments.
Barbara,
It is interesting how the past is refound through technology.
Shelly Crider
Lifetime learning not only provides tidbits, but gives depth to one's life and enhances your well-being. Learning in any area is on-going, even in archeaology, as today's finds changes the past.
Thomas,
I love the open mind! Those who are so sure they know all about something are so surprised when a new little tidbit finds them!
Shelly Crider
Never stop learning;Often it is amazing that someone can teach you things so valueable on it's own when you would think they would have nothing whatsoever to offer at first glance. Keep an open mind and really listen; you'll be rewarded.
Cathy,
I love when students share their ideas! There are some that are way out of the box, but I bet that is what people said about Alexander Graham Bell as well!!
Shelly Crider
I agree Cathy. I find one of the benefits of being a facilitator of education that I myself learn constantly. Whether learning new material to convey to my students or learning from my students I do have a unique vantage point to learn new things daily. I also stay enthusiastic about the entire learning process making my educational delivery very positive and engaging. This positivity is contagious and makes all students very interested to learn the material of the course.
