Gen Y Teachers
As a member of Generation Y, it is an odd thing to be labeled as such when I am in a position of authority. The benefits, I suppose to this understanding is the fact that I am teaching members who are baby boomers and a part of Gen X.
Valerie,
and this is why we must be aware of reaching all members of our classes & not letting any of them slip through the cracks.

Agreed! As our world seems more geared towards the Gen Y cohort, I find it particularly challenging to accommodate our earlier generations. In virtual reaching and corporate education, I can't tell you how many times we've had students print those e-books or materials, just because that is what they were used to and comfortable with.
An interesting reversal. As an effective instructor, becoming familiar with a different generation's learning styles and preferences becomes paramount to success. Being a Boomer myself, and having the majority of my students being Gen Y and with a minority being Gen X, this ED117 course holds much value applicable to enhancing my own abilities regarding efficient instruction. Having to "go backwards" in a sense, as in teaching an earlier generation as opposed to a later one, would of course have it's own particulars and challenges. However, overall, the message contained herein is the same: become familiar with your student's learning styles, so as to adjust your own methods in accordance.
Jaye,
And the more we understand the different generational cohorts the better prepared we are to reach them effectively.
