leaning prefences

It is important to realize the method of learning of your own generation may be different than the other generations represented in your classroom.
we need to adjust to all learners.

I agree with Frank, but everyone has different learning types. Some learn better with hands on and others learn just as well in class. Having a 50/50 class and lecture split works well for my students.

frank well put the difference from when we were young to day is very different an needs to be realized

Marie,
this is a great point that crosses generational boundaries. We should be trying to reach all of the various learning styles regardless of their generation.

I believe every person learns differently, so us as instructors need to learn and stay current on the different styles that way we will be prepared for the different individuals that come to our classes.

Very true. Students today seem to need more physical interaction rather than just lecture and pass around parts to succeeed.

To me, it was important to realize that computers and other technologies were probably going to be around much longer than I. I had to decide if I was going to go along kicking and screaming or if I would co-exist. I chose to co-exist. I believe that this could actually give a leg up on how some of the students feel. I have tried to be more flexible about my own learning in order to better relate to the "next" generation.

it can be a challange to combine the differnt learning styles into hands on and class room material

Frank,
yes & this shows the importance of getting to know our students as individuals & really connecting with them.
