Technology Across The Gentrations
I have had many generations represented in several of my classes. Some were very hesitant to use information technology while others embrace it. Knowing the make up of generational learners has allowed me to have alternate paths for those learners who just do not thrive when using technology. I allow them to use their own creativity at times to come up with assigned tasks. I would be interested to see any ways this is getting done.
Karen,
yes, we should be aware of the generations & also aware of the different learning styles that are present so we reach all learners effectively.

I find it true also that there are different learning styles embraced by a multi-generational classroom. My challenge is to teach in such a way that each finds comfort in their respective realm of technology. Most of all, I want the material to be clear and important concepts and information to be learnable to all of the students.
Learning about all of the different learning styles of the generational cohorts is going to ignite the creativity in me to make sure I establish exciting lectures for my very diverse class. It's nice to also be reminded that the way I was taught may not necessarily be compatible with everyone else. Besides, a more diverse teaching style catered to several generations will definitely keep my students on their toes.
Dwane,
I like this approach as it shows the usefulness of technology & puts the ownership & responsibility on the student.

I often leave the technology used up to the student. They can use the technology that is comfortable to their way of learning. depending on the class, they are free to hand sketch or use the computer to complete some assignemnts.
William,
this is a great approach & thank you for sharing. I think allowing the different generations to select alternative approaches also helps each learn from the others.
