feedback and self evaluation

I just wanted to share that after reading the lesson on "Y'ers" needing more feedback I completely revamped a lesson : gave the students 2 different exercises where they could check themselves to see if they where right. It really worked well, I could see the frustration removed from the previous lab where they had to wait for me to grade their results.

Yes! My students wait for me to grade and input all the scores via computer and still wait there outside my door for their grades!

This is very good to know. I did not know this about them. Hopefully it will work well in my future classes.

Anthony,
this is so true & I've found that if I provide the rubric ahead of time the arguments or disagreements are much fewer when they receive their grades.

I've found that not only does this generation value rapid feedback, they also value quality feedback in the form of well-constructed rubrics. They can deal with criticism as long as it is fair and consistent.

This generation is accustomed to instant gratification and require early feedback and evaluation.

Rebecca,
that's great & I'm glad the information was useful. Yers definitely relish their rapid feedback.
