As an instructor slideshare adds a new prespective to teaching. Some of them you may have to add a few things to, but the students seem to enjoy them better than Power Points and they can add more interaction with the class.

teaching today is like show business, you need the entertainment and interactivity or you're gonna loose your students, use any means to keep their attention going...soon enough robots will replace teachers.

I see it as a great tool to use to keep students connected to course material. Our institute is going towards blended learning and I'm sure it will help the students achieve better scores and learn at their own pace.

Power Points are just like reading text for students. Incoporating interactive slides, videos, and animation keep students interested and make the presentation enhance the course objectives and materials.

I believe that slide show/ powerpoints help students. They provide visual aid for the visual learners and audio aid the audio learners.

I agree. Power point is so boring. I don't read my power points but just use them to back-up my lectures. SlideShare seems like a great alternative. Our school is going to a blended learning format shortly and I'm excited about it.

It's a great addition to any presentation!

They enhance the learning process by reinforcing important concepts that are crucial in the overall understanding of each topic.

these tools provide the user with the opportunity to share a demonstration with the entire class at one time minimizing the problem of cramming students around a relatively small space where the potential exists for some students not to see the demonstration so well. Another benefit is the ability to stop and go as needed so students can comment and ask questions.

Patricia: I agree with you that power point alone is too boring. One of the professors here refers to it as "Death by Powerpoint." Students need more than just lecture notes up on the screen.

I think that presentation-sharing applications like slideshare can help learners to meet the course learning objectives. Like with all technology, it should be an enhancement to learning, not take the place of learning.

share everything that you can with our students to help them to be succeful in their study as the reach their goals.if it works then use every means to make sure the students succeds in reaching
gradutaion.

Peggy,

SlideShare is great because it is accessible via smart phone so students can review class material from nearly anywhere as long as they have a wifi connection.

Yours in learning,

Theresa Schmitt

Hello Ron, That is a good point about students not showing up for class if the lectures are uploaded online with video presentations. We are required to take attendance and the student will have a percent grade decrease or be dropped from school if the reach established percentages of class absences. The audio lectures for my course are uploaded and the students are suppose to listen to them before coming to class. It is evident during class discussions and teamwork that some of the students are not prepared for class.

I think slideshare would be helpful because it will save time in class and when students miss class they can still stay involved and up to date. Our students tend to learn and dump, I think if they have a way to review the material in a fun place instead of a book they will do it.

I feel that things like slideshare could really help students understand coverd topics and have he abilty to become an active participant in their learning experience.

I would like to incorporate video demonstrations that I create showing how the tasks the students are about to perform are done.

I believe side sharing would help with student buy in.

I think incorportating slideshare would make the information more interesting and encourage the students to pay attention. Might keep their attention better.

The sharing amongst the students creates a collaborative learning experience and the stronger students really help the struggling students in an informal media, creating less peer pressure and more collaboration. Thus leading to better course outcomes.
