Many of my clinics have commented not only on hygiene but on just overall professional appearance. It needs to be taught and sustained as many of these students do not understand this concept

Amy, this is an idea that is easy to implement and helps students grow in awareness of their appearance as a professional.

I really like the idea of posting a message on the restroom mirror about whether or not a students reflection represents someone they might hire. It certainly gives them a chance to critically evaluate their appearance.

I like to start each new term of students adhering to our hygiene "rules". then as students progress in our program, they can help other students understand the importance of hygiene.

It still amazes me how poorly some people's hygene is mantained.Teaching hygene's importance can easily be taken for granted.Even though it's basic common sence to most of us,some people have not given as much thought as to how even so called good hygene(perfume)can effect a sick patient. We all know about handwashing but it's only the begining.

I like this idea as well. I can see how this exercise can help to develop young professionals.

I agree, it is so important to stress professionalism. If your appearance is professional, then you feel more confident as well and performance will be enhanced.

As a medical assistant instructor, professionalism is important and is something we stress in our program.

I agree, I think if students use a hand on approach they will learn more and apply more. It's a game and they will enjoy it more than us giving the rules of proper attire

I will definetly use this in my dental classes. It is so important for students to "practice what they are learning to preach" to their patients. I have had experiences with students who do not brush their teeth or shower on a daily basis and they need to understand how important personal hygene in their chosen feild is for employment.

I like this game as well because rather than listing the rules, students are engaged in identifying them through the exercise.
