Carmella, I agree tat gestures are a wonderful teaching tool to implement.

I agree that creating gestures for use with students is a great idea. Making sure that things are running smoothly with the patient is the number one priority. If the student is performing poorly, it is a good way to intervene before things have gone to far and the patient is dissatified with their experience.
gayle, I hope you can incorporate and benefit from this teaching technique.

I think gestures are a great idea. I think it can release stress, anxiety and embarassment of the student in any situation or health care setting. If a correction can be made by gesturing to the student and no one is aware of the correction, this is a great tool.
Linda, I agree that this is a strategy to adopt for times such as these.

I am a dental assisting instructor and I encourage communicating this way to my students because it is "real life". You never want to let your patient know you are unsure of something or that you do not understand what the doctor is asking of you.
Stacey, CNA students do feel confident in communicating this way in front of patients and families.

Gestures allow the atmosphere of the clinical/ on the job setting to reduce the possibility of heightened anxiety for all parties. This idea is perfect for CNA students.
Shaghayegh, I'm glad this is one of the strategies you will use.
