Fallon, I'm so glad that you are seeing success and sharing that story here with us. Thanks!

The response by using a variety of activities has greatly increased the attention span of my students! The quiz and test scores have gone up! Also, there is more communication between ALL students, not just between the "clicks"
Terry, jeopardy has been successful for many of your peers. You can see their examples in the posts here.

Students enjoy the break; they unwind and learn at the same time. I usually play jeopardy, but I will also use the other games as well, with the exception of the football and baseball exercises as I am football ignorant, and would need a larger classroom for the baseball game. lol
I play Jeopardy and Bingo often as activities. I also use the software that comes with my text like review question PowerPoint slides and the interactive website. I pull up the site and the entire group plays the game. For longer games I allow extra credit to be earned. I made up an activity: make up a funny story using as many terms (used correctly) from the chapter as possible and share with the class. However, I am going to use some of these activities this quarter. They seem to get the students up and moving.
Lynn, the proof is in the results. If students see that they have better recall and do better on tests, they are more willing to become involved.

Most of my students respond positively to these games/activities because they cannot sit for the entire class and just listen. I have the occasional "lazy bones" who just doesn't want to get up, but most really enjoy the hands on experience and do tend to have better recall for tests etc.
Most of my students have always loved them. For a test review of a major final I made a "monopoly" game that they answered questions to buy properties which were x-ray views and the groups were the exams. It went very well.
Jill, you can't please every student every day. We do our best and that is all we can offer.

Most think it's fun. I had one student go off because she "doesn't play games, never has, never will". I told her she didn't have to play it, just make one. So she did. Another day we did something she would enjoy, so she came out even and was very pleased with the class.
I am looking forward to trying the relay race with my class.
Dr. Lindsay, I'm glad you like them and will adapt and use them in your classes.

Some of my activites used in my class reacht the intended outcome, while others miss the mark completely. I keep all activities in my toolkit and constantly tweak them to obtain better results.
In the past when I have incorporated fun learning activities in class they enjoy it for the most part and it gets the class energized. I try to use fun activities on a regular basis to prevent boredom. I am anxious to try some of these new ideas!
Gary, the movement gets attention and appeals to the kinesthetic learners. This successful idea you have shared does not add time to class, but adds energy.

My students Love when they can get up and move around the room. It is fun and exciting and often gets pretty competitive.
that is the point make the learning invironment dynamic and energetic
I think any activity actively involving students will help them to learn and inhances their learning ability.
it ingages students in learinig process actively
and helps them to learn the materials
Rebecca, I'm very glad that you have realized the value of student activities. They can teach, reinforce and engage.
