Well, again I teach exclusive online with Medical Terminology. I found when I taught onground or in seat that making a game of the pronunciation and definition in the classroom was engaging for the students. Each student got to say the word, spell it and then break down into each part. We had great fun doing that as the pronunciations were often difficult for the students.

Bingo is a bit more social than the crossword puzzles, so your group must like to talk to each other.

Bingo appeared to be more fun for the students than the crossword puzzles.

If you create the crosswords and offer contests or incentives for the learners to complete them as homework, you will find a larger percentage of learners will do them outside of class time. Good luck!

tis is a new concept for me, but what I have witness it with crossword puzzles, unless it is done in class the students don't do them. Which I find so sad as this is a wonderful opportunity to review major terms and definitions.
