Working with one student

I am currently teaching medical terminology for a single student who needs to repeat the class. I found that the memory game worked the best. Of course, there is no competition with other students. This seemed to increase his level of self confidence as well. kjc

I have had 4 studens in a class, But, one? That must have been a long drawn out course for them.

Tatiana, this is a great support service for your students. They are lucky to have you!

I find that a lot of times the quiet students are very intimidated by the students in class that are a lot more loud. Sometimes they need that one on one to really grasp the information. I always offer extra help on top of the class hours. That one on one time really helps some of the students

Blake, thank you for sharing your experience. I find it hard to teach one person by lecturing.

Anytime you are teaching a class to a single student, things can be very difficult I find. I have only had to do this once and I found it difficult at times to keep her interested even though she was the only one in class. I found that games did work best too. We would do matching, the memory game, computer based jeoprady, and crosswords too.
