In one situation, I taught a course online in which we used web conferencing technology for students to watch the lecture and ask questions directly. It was one of the most thrilling classroom situations I have ever taught. I was a combination of the chat feature but also a lecture feature.
Hi Mark, thanks for sharing your experience using a live web conference with your students.
Was it archived for students to watch at a later time? I primarily teach face2face and I use Panopto to record my lecture. Students love this technology because they can see/hear me all over again at a later time and can access the PowerPoint section they need to review, so they don't have to watch the entire lecture, just what they need.
Grace,
We live in a time where videos and other streamed media are quite easy to acquire.

I have been involved in presenting a seminar that was livestreamed and recorded - there was a discussion board for those who watched the archive while there was a live chat during the stream. This was by far one of the most exciting ways to deliver an online lecture that I have done and want to ventre out doing more of this with my live chats each week at AIU.
