re: building online course
Do all courses need to be revised after time? Why or why not?

I find that many of my courses need updated each semester. This could be due to changing text editions requiring updated page numbers or even changes to a new online text. I learn what updates need to be made from my students each semester. Student feedback from our end of course surveys as well as the student performance on exams often lead me in my revisions. I also like to include updated articles, especially research articles since I am in a healthcare academic setting. Lastly, I am always working on promoting greater student interaction in the course beyond just completing the readings and taking tests.

It is always good to revise and update a course to keep up with current literature as well as text editions. You will also note that there will be certain aspects of the course that do need to be adjusted each time you deliver the course in order to work all the bugs out. I know also seem to come up with better ideas to present the material or even ways to help the students assess their knowledge prior to test taking.

I am a big believer in yes!! You will want to keep current events in your class to make the content real and interesting. Old news is boring and students will not read.
