How have you adapted your courses to reflect current technology use?

I attempt to continue to update the courses I develop to reflect current trends. For example, this past fall I developed and taught a course on Social Networked Learning - here is a blog post I wrote about it http://usergeneratededucation.wordpress.com/2012/11/18/educators-as-social-networked-learners/

Frank,

Great move! Students will identify with your voice and and your videos.

I have been using PowerPoint for several years now and have recently added some additional features like recorded voice and short videos to enhance the presentation.

ANTHONY,
Thanks for sharing all information.

Jaclyn,
That is a great idea. I just visited your blog site and find it quite interesting. My area of teaching is quantitative management, a bit distant from your. But, it has many features that are transferable to any topical area.

Thank you for sharing that information.

I have just recently started using Jing. This tool allows me to demonstrate processes on the screen in a short video. This is a great tool for providing feedback on assignments.

What a great use of technology. You are so smart to use technology for both good learning and management of workload.

I am an online accounting instructor as well. I found that using Jing recordings to demonstrate accounting problems has been very useful to my students. Also, it has been a time saver for me because instead of answering questions from student individually, I simply direct them to the Jing recordings. Also, I have embedded voice over PowerPoint presentation and I think that students find that very useful.

Colleen,

Sure, I was at a conference that used student recordings. This was an economic course. They were given terms and they had to record ways to define a term. I had students to develop a training plan. They had to record it. I have had students to use Youtube or even their phones. I hope this helps.

Can you give an example of how I could have my students use Jing? I can't picture this scenario.

Colleen,

That is great! I really like Jing and I think you are on the right track. You can also have your students use it.

I am an accounting instructor, and I have been teaching online for less than a year. So far, I have been using Jing recordings in order to demonstrate accounting problems. This has been working pretty well. I also provide the links to the Jing recordings to my on ground students who need reinforcement after a lecture. I am interested in trying some of these other technology tools.

Bernadette,

Great way to use technology. It does take a little practice, but what doesn't? Good post.

I used a Jing tutorial and they have been very helpful for my students. I have to admit it took me a while to get comfortable with talking and using a book at the same time, but I have become more comfortable with capturing the screen shots and helping students find there way around the textbook.

Jaclyn,

Great idea. I will enjoy looking at your blog post!
