Inspiring feedback

I feel it is very important to keep students involved even when they are at risk of failing. This is where I like to come in and congratulate them on a job well done on an assignment and tell them to hang in there. I've noticed when students are failing few of them will reach out to instructors for help. This again is when I feel it is so important to get the student involved.

Brian,

The word "inspiring" is not one that we often hear associated with feedback, but you are SO right! Keep it up!

Inspiring feedback is essential to being an effective instructor. There is no other way!

Patricia,

"MIA" students - good term. It's good to keep touch with them and help keep them on track. Nice job.

Good points - students who are discouraged tend to give up instead of getting louder. We track MIA students on a weekly basis and have the instructor and the advisor reach out to see what's up. I think it helps with student retention.

Lyn,

Encouraging our students is a must. We have to be consistent with so many things and motivation techniques is one of those thing. Thanks!

A simple 'hang in there' is SO effective. I had one student comment on how much the weekly encouragement he received 'kept him going" even though he had difficulties with the course content.

Marie,

Engaging students throughout the entire learning process is very important. Sometimes those at risk of failing need to be motivated more to be engaged, but it's worth it. Thanks!
