Creation and Testing Process
The creation and testing process is a cyclical and ongoing process. Also this a is a required process. I have taught some online courses in which the course has not been changed by the course developer in 5 years.
Jason,
Yes, each class has it's own culture and we have to address that culture through how we present the content. That is one reason why we provide content in a variety of ways. Thanks!
I agree. Every class presents a different dynamic and it is essential to continually modify the course to better suit students.
Cally,
Time is definitely a barrier. We, as online instructors, must not only be wise with our time management but priority management. Thanks for your input.
I have to agree with you Fred, it is a very much required process. Although it is quite easy to change the content in our online courses, I think the only barrier we have as instructors is time. Also remembering to go back and change things that didn't work or didn't make sense, so I always try to write things down as I go along, that way I can change it for the next class.
Nicole,
Thanks for responding to Fred and continuing the conversation. I typically do the updates myself and not rely on a course developer, the instructor should be able to update when necessary if the curse
Fred,
Right on! It should be ongoing. Keeping a static courses for many years does not seem like that would provide up to date courses. Thanks.
Fred,
Reading your post reminded me of one of the quiz questions. I knew the answers were cyclical and ongoing but I wanted to select required. I agree that the creation and testing process in also required. I teach courses that are heavily related to technology and as we know technology changes rapidly and often. Unfortunately it is not always feasible to have someone like a course developer or instructional designer to update courses regularly. Time and money could be major barriers for that to happen. What are your thoughts?
