Bridging the Gap between Online Learning and Real Life Situations
When I come up with personal discussions from our weekly topics, I try to bring real world situations to the classroom so that students can relate the topics to real life. For example, 1 of my week's topic is autoimmune diseases. I made a topic of what celebrities have autoimmune diseases. Something interesting and exciting for them. What are some ways that you get your students excited about work?
Gloria and Telecia,
Sounds like you are doing similar things.
Thanks for sharing.
Gloria,
Share with us - what is Live Lab? Do you teach in the sciences?
Just wondering. Thank you.
Telecia,
After the live lab, I post as a blog the live lab presentation for student to review. I feel this will help the students with a review before taking the test at the end of the week.
I send out my Live Lab presentation to all the student for them to review. I feel this will help the students with a review before taking the exam at the end of each week.
Telicia,
Excellent. Bringing the "real world" into the classroom is a great way to engage students. I also have "experts in the field" come online and discuss a pertinent topic. I record it for those who cannot be their simultaneously and put a couple quiz questions from the expert on the next quiz.
