I normally respond to all my students' emails whether they are important or not. That way all my students feel that their concerns are important. I started practicing this years ago when I found out that students communicated to each other whether or not faculty answers e-mails on time.

Organizing emails in to folder by course, section, etc. helps me to manage all of my email communications. I typically save them ALL and often find myself going back and reviewing them at times to clarify a communications trail.
