Reinforcing Civility

Along with on-line interaction I meet with students once a week in class. Every class meeting I go over the syllabus and reinforce proper netiquette and course expectations.

Jim

Elodie and Jim,

Thanks for continuing the conversation. We do alter things a bit when we begin teaching online. We have to think about the best way to get the point across - no matter what the point may be. Thanks again.

Jim,

This is feasible when you have a f2f class when you teach online such meeting is not possible. What I do for my online course is that the first video goes over the syllabus, expectations, tools and communication which is very similar to the first day of class in a traditional f2f course.

I take questions at this time and clarify any statements if needed. Students are always welcome to ask questions if they have doubts or difficulties.

Sheila,

I have found success in the blended environment and I think the students have enjoyed it as well. We meet one day in class and one day online each week. Hope this is helpful.

Great idea! How does this work in the end? Have you found success with this?

james,

How wonderful to have the opportunity to meet with students F2F. You can address so many things in the F2F class. Thanks for sharing.
