Rubrics!

Rubrics have made the grading process easier but students clearly understanding why they received a grade is the true victory. I provide rubrics prior to an assignment deadline so students clearly see what is expected and how to achieve it.

Robin,

Yes, this helps with self-assessment. Thanks for adding to the conversation.

Every time i assign a project i create a rubric that includes a box where students can check off if they completed the requirement as well as a box where i can check off if the student completed the requirement to the standards in which it was explained. i find this helpful.

Cory,

I'm a rubric fan as well. I think we have found many other fans in in this course as well. Thanks!

Rubrics are wonderful and it is always surprising how many on ground schools and teachers do not use them or are just staring to use them. As online educators we are using them often and have been.

Breezy,

Right on. Rubrics can help both the instructor and students. They are very beneficial.

Thanks!

As an online instructor I think that rubrics are very important to introduce to students at the beginning of the course. I think that this information is available the students can see what’s expected when it comes to the course and when it comes to the assignments.

kelia,

I love to hear the word "victory" and rubric used in the same sentence. Thanks so much.
