More Confucion than Needed?

Maybe this is good for the younger generation, but to be honest for graduate students and those not into technology this sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

I agree with you regarding some students don't know how to tweet or facebook. I also think you have to monitor using these tools to make sue they are safe. I do have a problem when students won't do an assignment because the are uncomfortable in doing so. If it assesses or delivers the contact in an engaging efficient way, and it helps your students meet their objectives, then they should engage in then they must engage in the activity.

I agree. I think it is wrong to assume that everyone in a classroom knows how to tweet, or even those who have a facebook account. Many students may not feel comfortable with this type of technology and resent this as a learning tool.

It doesn't have to be. You have to be clear with your expectations and have a plan for evaluation. You must hold students to the expectations also. It can't be busy work; it must have a purpose
