Antoinette,
I am glad you review the rubrics to ensure they are on target for evalution of the assignments. Also, including the learning outcomes in the rubrics is helpful as well. It helps the students connect the assignments and course outcomes. Thanks!
The rubrics I used are created by the course developers. I review each rubric associated with the weekly task to make sure it makes sense and covers the task requirements.
Rebecca,
That sounds like a great tool. Nice that it is in an excel format.

Christina,
That is true! More and more our learning management systems have rubric generators also.

I have never used resources online and this is useful information. Now I will have more resource should I need it. Presently, I use the pre-fab rubric entitled "Student Expectations" rubric allocated with my courses. I appreciate the title, student expectations. It is in excel formal and the criteria is broken down into scales from did not demonstrate to "Stellar" demonstration.
I have attended Turnitin webinars, as well as other training sessions. These get-to-gethers could be a helpful source in meeting other professors and exchanging ideas, including rubrics.
Other people in the field of study, or even outside, can help evaluate and suggest improvements.
Laura,
So, do you create your own or us a generator. Blackboard will create its on rubric soon.

There are many examples of rubrics for different courses, majors, and assignments types available online. These can be used as a basis for the rubrics to be used in the course.
This link has many sample rubrics in one document:

There are also online tools that will assist in the automated creation of rubrics.
For example, http://rubistar.4teachers.org/
is a tool that facilitates the creation of rubrics online. There are many templates for different types of assignments available, and these can be customized for the specific assignment.
Tanya,
Any of the LMS (learning management systems) such as Blackboard now has rubric creation as part of their assignment. I haven't tried it but I will this summer. I hope I can incorporate it in my courses!

I have used several sources to genererate rubrics. I have a general rubric I adapted from teaching at UCF. There are several rubrics one can also use found online. This may create a basis to the specify what you would like to evaluate and modify the rubric to fit. Does anyone else have other ideas?
