I have had good luck with successful meetings and part of that is the communication I keep with my instructors and add the items to be discussed in the agenda. The agenda gives the items that need to be discussed and the instructors come in and out of the meeting.

It is good to have experience and be able to use it but to express your experience to often may turn some people off. It is the wise person who can draw upon what they have learned.

Listening is another part of part of a good committee which helps participants feel like a contributor.

Meetings seem energized and go well when topics allow members to contribute their ideas or expertise. They have been particularly productive when student work and curriculum review are components. Interest level drops off when a member begins to tell too many details about their own company. pj

Good ideas. When you are focused and dedicated to your goal of the meeting you are the steady rudder to the outcome.

Most of my meetings go as planned. I credit this to having an agenda for the meeting and keeping the meeting flowing in a timely manner. Another key for a successful meeting is keeping the end in mind; knowing where you want land at the end of the meeting. On the few meetings that have gone awry, it was always due to lack of preparation on my part. It is essential to have the vision of identifying areas that may become passion points for the meeting members. When these arise, it is important to keep the meeting focused on the goal you intend to achieve by the end of the meeting.
