I couldn't agree with you more. Having been in the position of "weeding out" job applicants, I can assure you that the nonverbal communication can very often be the deciding factor in who gets the job.
I agree with you, especially when I think of appearance and dress. I am an instructor; I am not in a hiring position, but I do think it is my job to help students learn how to improve their chances of getting a good job. Appearance and dress are very important nonverbal communication when seeking a job. I'm afraid we overlook it's importance.
