Adjusting to your audience versus overall objective
Researching the audience and adjusting your presentation accordingly is one way to effective presentation . However, what would you do if you do not have the chance to know your audience or do not have the time to know them? Secondely, how could adjusting yourself to the audience affect your overall intended objective? Should you compromise your objective? Can a presentation be prepared in such a way that it can fit any audience intended for that presentation?
Derbe,
Good questions. Regarding the first: sometimes it's true you don't have the chance to get to know your audience. This is not an absolute must, it can just help overall. At the very least, I suggest trying to find out the age, gender, career, etc demographics just to help.
Adjusting to the audience should never affect your intended objective. What you hope to achieve should remain the same. Now, how you present the material may be altered slightly or presented in a little different way to appeal to a particular audience, but the objective should remain the same.
Hope that makes sense.
