Personal Accountability...

I feel that we should all be personally accountable and responsible for our own actions. This is a great way to lead by example as well.

Damion L. Bogus
Admissions Representative

No one wants to admit that they messed up but it is a part of life. I have more respect for people that can admit when they made a mistake rather than trying to pass the buck or point the finger at someone else.

...my favorite is when a manager publicly TAKES personal responsibility for a mistake his/her TEAM or EMPLOYEE made WITHOUT pointing fingers at any culprit other than him/herself.

I saw it once and have never forgotten it. The loyalty to that manager gushed eternal after that show of personal accountability.

Stellar.

I agree. Managers need to set an example, whether their actions are good or bad. If they made a mistake, owning up to it will help teach the employees and show them what ought to have been done.

I agree.

Lead by example is the best way

I lead by example and I believe in letting my people know that if I have to I'll get in the ditch with you to get the job done!

You need to step up and rise above situations. It actually shows great character and know that your positive examples will prevail!

It is even worse when the manager blames their employee!

It is really quite discouraging when managers do not accept personal accountability, but rather deny, deny, deny. My least favorite phrase is "I never said that".

Indeed!

; )

Very true. I feel that if you have done something wrong you need to accept the consequences as well as reap the rewards for something done right.
