Career managment
I Feel, career management is a lifelong process where one needs to reevaluate his progress often to be able to achieve his/her goals.
Bruce,
I would say you are in a good position to at least explore a little. You have a good position, so poke around a little & see if you would want to change. Don't wait until you "have to" change jobs, then you are impulse buying & may not be happy.

I find myself evaluating my career choice lately. I really enjoy what I do enlightening the life's of others. I just find myself wondering if there is something else in the same field with another company. I am very stable in my position and wonder if it is time to make a change? (fear of the unknown)
Dustin,
I completely agree. Even if we find ourselves in the same position officially, it will change & we must be ready to grow with it.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
I agree, I feel we should always be trying to improve and also move forward with our careers. Our current position may or may not be the same thing we will be doing in the next few years. Always be on the personal and professional improvement path.
Eric,
yes & we have to recognize that we live in the generation of personal career management & ownership; no one is going to own it for us.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
Career management is very important. It allows me the opportunity to sharpen and broaden my skills, attributes and assess my work ethics and job responsibilities.
I have found over the last eight years my career choices have been good but if I could afford it would make a career change.
Billie Kay,
this is great & I love the example of how it is life-long. I've heard many people refer to retirement as "repurposing" of your life. I like that.
Ryan Meers, Ph.D.
I agree that career management is lifelong. I am a few months away from retirement and am approaching retirement as a career change. I don't want to go on a permanent vacation, but see this time as an opportunity to continue to contribute without having to worry as much about the monetary benefits or make the long-term commitments necessary on the job.
Toufik,
I would agree & believe that we should each periodically reexamine where we are & our choices.
