Breathe
I enjoyed the Stop, Breathe, Reflect, Choose method. I tried this today and it worked for me.
Monica,
Good for you! We all need to lead a balanced life. Our lives needs to be surrounded with healthy habits, exercise, mental activity, recreation and spiritual regeneration.
Dr. Gary Carlson
I'm going to use this technique in my everday life when it comes to handling all decisions. Thank you.
Alice,
It is a good practice to step back sometimes. You can usually regain your best composure when you do this. If this technique works for you then it is best to not forget to use it when necessary.
Dr. Gary Carlson
When possible, stepping away (especially outside) for a brief walk helps immensely!
Nicky,
You are correct. When you step back and get your composure you will make better decisions.
Dr. Gary Carlson
Stopping for a moment and collecting your thoughts sometimes is the best for all. most of the time i feel it helps me make a better decision and to give better advice.
Stephen,
This is good advice for your students. This is not only a stress reliever but also it brings more oxygen to the brain. This is an assistance to brain for recall. Oxygen is a great relaxer for all of us.
Dr. Gary Carlson
The method deep breathing from the diaphram is a tactic that I tell students to employ when test taking as well... test anxiety is a challenge for so many(!).
willy,
Good for you. How many test have we had for ourselves all our left? We continue to gain some anxiety over the event but your ability to combat stress helps us take a test with a better position. Your testing can be accepted better when we know how to cope.
Dr. Gary Carlson
Whew, That test was stressful. All I had to do was stop, breathe, reflect, then choose. Voila, I passed it.
Jeff,
Taking a break and making the decision after the time to reason your response is always better. :You have often heard the saying I need to sleep on it. This is the process of making time to work it through. I as a leader have often said to an employee to come see me as I will consider their idea or request.
Dr. Gary Carlson
I also like the concept of stopping, Breathing, Reflecting and Choosing the right decision. I feel that many times we get too tied up in the stress of the moment that we forget to stop....I find that sometimes a quick break can help relieve stress as well.
Candace ,
We have many practices at hand for us we often don't think of or use. It is great when we make it part of who we are.
Dr. Gary Carlson
Sherry,
This technique is a best practice for many. It is a way of stepping back and gaining control of your emotional destiny.
Dr. Gary Carlson
Thank you for that breathing exercise.
Candace
Good relaxation technique to aid in sleep:
Taking a deep breathe, holding it while tensing your toes, then relaxing toes and letting breath out with a force - repeat with legs, then torso, then arms, then neck, then head.
Candace ,
Good for you! Many of the techniques you will learn work if practiced. These are good for remaining healthy through stress related activity.
