Communication in online courses is very important, it can be synchronous or asynchronous but there must be communication links at all times

The onborboarding process for a new online faculty is key from setting up expectations, to learn established protocols and procedures, and how tow to use the online plattform. All these need to be done with several meetings and clear documentation. 

 

Onboarding new faculty members can be stressful so it is important to segment the training for the new faculty member. Creating repository sandbox courses for the faculty to utilize and implement training can be very helpful. Additionally, ensuring there is adequate communication to answer any questions is critical for success. 

 

The onboarding process for new hires needs to actively use the current LMS for that institution and be broken down into steps as to not overwhelm the instructors. It is also important when having instructors in different states to understand the employment laws of that state as they compare to the institution's policies.

 

There is a big portion on regulatory matters and specfically online schooling which I thought was very important when getting the right kind of faculty. 

I liked the idea of creating phases to the new faculty orientation and allowing the instructor to start working on their course for the semester to use some of the tools that was just learned.  This will give them time to learn the material and use that material as they prepare their class for the semester.

 

Both synchronous and asynchronous communication is needed in distant education.

 

Knowing and meeting the accreditation requirements is very important for an institution. Communicating these requirements to your team is very crucial. Success and failure relies on proper communication and meeting all the expectations and requirements to run your program.

 

It is important for new faculty to understand their expectations and how their job descriptions and tasks fit into the overall context of the academic program and university.

 

As administrators of educational programs, we also need the support of parent organizations to ensure the flexibility to maintain the ongoing requirements of developing faculty and ensuring they understand their role as a faculty member, within the program and within accreditation. 

 

Asynchronous and synchronous communication and phased onboarding/orientation is a sure way to stitch in new faculty while making sure all levels of compliance are met and measureable. 

It is significantly important to ensure that state and accreditation requirements are followed when hiring a new faculty. It is also important to provide a phased approach, asynchronous and synchronous, in training new faculty. This provides a comprehensive understanding of the complexities of online instruction.

Communication just like in any other business is key to success! Instructors need a consistent and reliable communication between the institution and the instructor and the instructor with the student.

It is critical for faculty members to understand programmatic accreditation requirements and adher to them. Taking the time to show new faculty this information can aid in their compliance with accreitation standards/ requirements.
