Resource Notebook

I like the idea of a resource notebook. It's the first time I have ever heard of it and I am going to compile one for my school.

Janis,
Great news!

Catherine,
Visual representations have a huge impact.

Bruce,
I would agree. Having it at your fingertips is critical and being able to make it your own brings responsibility and ownership of the material.

I like the notebook also but I am thinking that every person required to take this course should have one. Perhaps it should be standardized for the entire school. For example, a director is required to take this training but if there is a question regarding admissions, it would be better if he/she had his/her own copy rather than have to walk to Admissions or call to get an answer. This would ensure that the information is current also. If there is only one notebook and it is held by a single employee, there is no way of verifying that the binder is current. Somebody should be put in charge of finding and disseminating updates. That way, when no updates occur for a while, it may raise a red flag within the organization.

I think the addition of an organizational chart is very important. Many students are visual learners, and the organizational chart is a way to show them the "chain of command." It also makes it easier to discuss who is responsible for solving a particular problem.
