Becoming Accredited

What is the best way to become accredited in the fastest way possible?

Ricardo,
More and more students are looking for accredited schools. It is an important Seal of approval from another agency behind the regulatory.

Accreditation is voluntary but is worth going through the process. The degrees given will mean more at the end than from a non-accredited institution. To become accredited, the institution and its programs need to demonstrate that they meet the standards established by an accredited agency. The two types of agencies are institutional or specialized. Institutional focuses on the entire school and specialized only on a specific field of study.

Rita,
Agreed! Accreditation is a long process and can be very costly. The ability to say your school is accredited shows you have met their standards which in turn, can be the pathway to Title IV loans for your students.

There is not a fast way to become accredited, it is a very slow and thorough process, but is well worth it at the end.

Robert,
First things first. Your school must be in annual licensure status with the state for the required number of years before application. Some schools actually hire a school consultant to prepared the application and the school for the accreditation visit. Applications are often a year or more in the making.
