Admissions vs Marketing
It is really part of an admissions representative to trate prospective students as a posoble buyers for your products (education)???
Nadia ,
Yes I would agree that most people feel that way. When you're out and about we really feel that a big sales pitch would come. The students feel comfortable by the fact we are just dispensing information it is a good way to connect as you'll find that some will contact you later.

This has always been my struggle attending Education fairs etc.... I find that most people are afraid to approach the table in fear of being bombarded with the aggressive sales guy approach. I try to make my approach as comfortable as possible when introducing myself/product (education). Most important I listen to the prospect needs, never forgetting that we are a business and we are here to sell a product. I set that aspect aside until I feel I have listened to the prospect and have something that I can definitely offer him or her.
eileen,
Open communication is needed in admissions. We need to be able to probe into those deep-seated questions that the students may have in order to alleviate any misunderstandings or fears.

Being brand new-I see our job being the chance to open communication to allow the client to recognize this school as the best fit and best opportunity for them.
secondly, helping them over the hurdle of making a big decision in their lives without allowing the fear of making a decision to criple them from moving forward.
Shabetai,
Very true! However, Education staff should always keep in mind that we are running a business of education and business sense must be included in our decision making.

Dahlia,
Excellent! It's a good thing as we grow together in our institutions.
Patty Aronoff
Students are turned off to business tactics. Education should focus on the student's need to better themselves in the future. Admission should focus on this notion
Ms. Aronoff I agree with your statement, we try to keep that mindset in our instution.
Ramiro,
We are a businesa first and foremost. We have a product (education) and the students are our consumers.
