Admissions Best Practice

-The best marketing strategy is integrity. You be able to build trust and you will add value to the institution.

Marissa,
Our reputation proceeds us in everything we do. It becomes our brand and how people rate their experience is a driving force.

Patty Aronoff

I also agree. If your institution can't be trusted, its reputation will be tarnished. Integrity is essential to maintaining a good reputation.

sharon,

Honesty and integrity should be every move that we make. If we don't have those basic elements, we are misleading the students.

Patty Aronoff

I agree that integrity and honesty are critical to the success of an agent. Students are relying on us for information. That information in many cases, can be life changing. We must always act with the student's best interest in mind. Taking short cuts or being dishonest is a disservice to the student and to our institution.

Marguerite,
You have made an excellent point! The right fit is when the school is right for the student and the student is right for the school.

Patty Aronoff

Omar,

This comes with active listening. By getting to know your prospective student, you are better able to provide information and guide them in the decision for their career.

Patty Aronoff

Alan,

It is a good philosophy to have. We treat others as we wish to be treated ourselves.

Patty Aronoff

Yvette,

Agreed! Integrity, honesty, and trust are all part of being an agent. The students rely on us for all the information.

Patty Aronoff

Integrity is very important and speaks to all you do in admissions, from informing prospective students about your offerings, staff, and how it will impact their life and future. But integrity goes further by making sure that the prospective student is a good fit for your institution, the program and the prospective's students ability to complete your program and use the knowledge from the program in a constructive way that will enhance their life.

That to me means knowing your Prospect's goals and ambitions. If they have realistic expectations of how they want to persue their desired life style, you can help guide them towards a fufilling career.

The potential student is the most important
aspect of my job. Treating that person the same exact way I like to be treated is the key, and that is being treated excellent.

I would agree that the best quality to have as an agent is integrity. A lot of trust is put in to agents to be representing the institution to which they belong in the best way possible which includes knowing updated information and having the institutions intentions in mind.

Chris,

Confidence shows in our nonverbal actions. Having a great confidence will shine when you are speaking and discussing your product.

Patty Aronoff

Chris,

Social media is another avenue for connecting to prospective students. Many have Facebook sites, Twitter account where they connect and share events and activities at your campus.

Patty Aronoff

Confidence comes with knowing our "products" and how our institutions service our customers - "students"! Amazing how higher education admissions has become more sales oriented/modeled then ever.

Hello colleagues, I feel strongly that admissions is all about "Relationship Management". We work hard at working the top of the admission funnel and identifying ways to communicate with our prospective students. WE are very good at e-mailing and phone calling. However, I am curious what folks are doing with social media. This is an area we struggle with as we do not have a centralized “resource” to manage this. What are you seeing as a “best practice” for social media and as A function within the admissions department?

Cindy,

Rapport with the student is so important. They want to trust in us and rely on us for good solid knowledge.

Patty Aronoff

Chasity ,

Confidence comes through in both how we speak as well as our body language.

Patty Aronoff

it also helps you build good rapport with the student and in return collect referrals.
