Interesting rule in regards to titles of "counselor/advisor"
I found the most interesting part of this section to be the prohibition of using the titles of "admissions counselor" or "admissions advisor". In a previous role in NJ, my title was "admissions counselor" and much of my responsibilities were the same. I never gave it much thought, however, now I see how this term can be misleading as the ultimate goal in recruitment and enrollment.
Lena,
Spot on! When we hear the term counselor we put all sorts of connotations with that title.

I found this topic interesting and I totally understand why the state of Florida would view the term counselor as misleading because so many places have used the word counselor loosely--rental counselors, youth camp counselors, portfolio counselors.
I concur. The counselor word is very misleading because a student may (read too much into the position) think this person is more than what he/she truly is based on that title.
Candace,
The state of Florida believes that the term counselor is very misleading. Counselor is certainly one that is used in other states but definitely not allowed in Florida.
